Selected images from Textures of Provence

Artist’s Reception Saturday, Nov. 21, 2-4PM, 868 Estate Vineyards, 14001 Harpers Ferry Rd, Hillsboro, VA 20132

This body of work was inspired by a trip to France and the rugged landscapes of Provence. From fragrant lavender fields to coastal cliffs shimmering in the summer heat, my art reflects my commitment to respect our shared planet.

I use a variety of media to explore different aspects of my subjects. Along with pastels, I have included several felted wool “paintings” and ink sketches.

“Blue Door, Cotignac” 12×16, pastel in panel

“In the Heart of Green Provence” 22×30, pastel on watercolor paper, Correns, France

A special note: In July of 2026, a devastating wildfire consumed 95% of the forest as well as many homes and vineyards around the small village of Correns in the Var region of Provence. This region, known as “Green Provence”, features prominently in this show, and I am grateful to the people of Correns for their hospitality during our stay in 2025. Therefore, a portion of the proceeds from the show will go to help families in Correns rebuild what was lost.

“Lavender Cottage” 9×12, wool felt with embroidery and handspun embellishments, Valensole Plateau

“Lavender Bliss” 11×14, Valensole Plateau, pastel on board

“Purple Haze” 16×20, pastel on board, Valensole Plateau

“La Cascade, Cotignac” 18×30, pastel on watercolor paper, Cassole River
